South Omaha Library, 2808 Q St., will host a Hispanic Heritage Festival on Saturday, September 28, noon-4 p.m. The day will feature live music, refreshments and family activities. The event is free for all ages, and is sponsored by the Mammel Family Foundation, Omaha Public Library Foundation, and Friends of Omaha Public Library. In an effort to celebrate the significant contributions of Hispanic culture to our community, Omaha Public Library has planned a fun-filled day. Attendees can expect refreshments, a bounce house, games and crafts during the event. Various community organizations will also be present with information about resources they can offer. Scheduled events: Noon-1 p.m. Performance by Las Cecelias mariachi band Noon-2 p.m. Face painting/glitter tattoos for kids 1-3 p.m. Food booths 1-3 p.m. Piñata activities at the start of each hour 1-4 p.m. Music by DJ Blu 1:30-2 p.m. Performance by Xiotal Ballet Folklórico dance troupe 2-3 p.m. Performance by musician George Walker 3-3:30 p.m. Salsa dancing with Mitchell Herrera Visit omahalibrary.org for information on additional events at Omaha Public Library’s 12 metro locations.
