Grab your superhero costume and cape and fly out to the first annual Heart Heroes Super Run on Sunday, October 13 at Lake Zorinsky, 156th & F Streets, in Omaha. This 2K and 5K fun run/walk will support children and families who battle congenital heart defects (CHD). Registration begins at 1 p.m. and the walk and run begins at 2 p.m. Heart Heroes, Inc, a local non-profit organization is organizing this Super Run in hopes to continue their mission of empowering kids with CHD. Heart Heroes provides superhero capes to kids with CHD at no cost to the child or family. With each adult registration for the Super Run, one cape can be donated to a child locally or across the country. The Super Run will feature free family fun activities at Shelter #5 at Lake Zorinsky. Race entries are $20 for adults, $10 for children (12 & under) and all Heart Heroes are free. Each registration will receive a special edition 2013 Heart Heroes Super Run cape. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for the Super Run. Interested sponsors should contact Kitty Burton at (402) 960-9287or firstname.lastname@example.org. Heart Heroes, Inc was created in 2009 by moms wanting to empower children who battle with the challenges of CHD. They believe that each of these children are a hero, or “superhero,” and provide CHD children with a superhero cape. Heart Hero Capes are a way for children to feel brave and invincible while visiting the hospital or seeing the cardiologist. Through the capes, Heart Heroes strives to provide hope that all children will have super power, and that their parents will be comforted knowing that even in the times they cannot hold their child in their arms, the cape is providing the same protection.
