February 24. This new annual event is our major fundraiser to support the UNL Botanical Gardens and Arboretum. The cost is $30 per person. A Gathering of Friends will take place at the Landscape Services Shop just east of 33rd Street on the East Campus Loop Road and will feature a soup and salad luncheon, a silent auction and a fabulous lecture by Jan Riggenbach, whose newspaper and magazine columns have been inspiring Midwest gardeners for more than 30 years. “Midwest Gardening,” Jan’s syndicated garden column, appears weekly in newspapers throughout the region, including the Omaha World-Herald. Riggenbach’s lecture topic, “Big Ideas for Smaller Gardens” is inspired by her need to downscale her gardening after a recent move to Omaha. Reservations are required and must be received by February 19. Checks should be made out to UNL Garden Friends and sent to Kit Keller, 1934 Twin Ridge Rd Lincoln, NE 68506.
