Professionals with Remote Area Medical provide free dental care (cleanings and extractions), vision care (eye exams and glasses made on site), women's health care (pap tests and vouchers for free mammograms), tobacco cessation, behavioral health care (counseling) and limited general medical care (medical screenings and referrals to low-cost community health centers) on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17.
The event takes place at the Oklahoma Expo Hall, located on the northwest portion of the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.
Patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis regardless of income or immigration status and should bring a list of any medications they take.
The staff gives out numbers beginning around 3 a.m. each morning, and patients begin entering the building at 6 a.m. Care runs through the late afternoon.
