Business needs and the services colleges offer come together Thursday, July 24 during the Skills Summit II workshop at Rose State College.
The workshop explores the challenges employers face in the recruitment and placement of employees and the ways colleges can reduce the skills gap to accommodate their workforce requirements.
The keynote speech, delivered by education and counseling expert Dr. Mark Taylor at 8:45 a.m., explores "Generation NeXt," prospective students up to the age of 26, and the particular differences between them and Generation X, Baby Boomers and the Traditionals which populate most faculty and staff.
Afterward are panel discussions by business representatives who discuss the needs of various industries, including manufacturing, aerospace, health care, military, municipal and nonprofit.
