Ecologist Michelle Marvier will present a public lecture about the conservation of nature in Anthropocene, the proposed new geological epoch defined by the impacts of human activity. Marvier will explain the challenges facing conservation in a time when so many natural areas have been affected by human activities. She will discuss the tension some see between protecting nature for its own sake and safeguarding human wellbeing.
