Award-winning author and Oklahoma native Tim Tharp will join the University of Central Oklahoma’s Literature in Performance (L.I.P.) for two events this winter. Tharp will introduce a screening of the 2013 film “The Spectacular Now,” based on his 2008 novel of the same name at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 27 in Pegasus Theater in the Liberal Arts Building on Central’s campus. Additionally, Tharp will be the featured speaker at L.I.P.’s “Screenwriting Saturday” at 4 p.m. Feb. 1 at The Paramount, located at 700 W. Sheridan on Oklahoma City’s Historic Film Row. The events are free and open to the public. “The Spectacular Now” stars Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley in the coming-of-age story of high school students Sutter Keely and Aimee Finicky. It premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim.
