Visitors to City Hall will learn about the 123-year history of the Oklahoma City Police Department during the second installment of “Oklahoma City! Sooner or Later…”
The history of the Police Department from 1890 to the present will be presented through photos, documents, historical items and text.
Examples of items on display are a bomb suit and robot used by the Department in the late 1980s, police uniforms, an armored vest from the 1930s, items issued to the first female officers in 1973 and a saddle used by the Mounted Patrol division.
The self-guided exhibit is free and open to the public year-round from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday on the second floor of City Hall, 200 N Walker. For more information, contact the City Clerk’s Office at 405-297-2391.
