Greenville decides on tax rate
GREENVILLE
(ketr) -
The City of Greenville has decided on its tax rate for next year. The City Council gave the go-head Tuesday to advertising a significant cut in the City's property tax rate. The Council also scheduled two public hearings regarding the proposed rate, because even with a more than 4-cent cut in the rate, it still amounts to a tax increase. City Manager Steven Alexander has proposed a cut in the property tax rate from the current 76.4 cents per $100 valuation to 72 cents. The first public hearing on the budget and tax rate is set for Sept. 9. A second public hearing will be Sept. 16.
