Led by area fan favorite Syracuse, this weekend's 2010 NCAA men's sub-regional basketball tournament at HSBC Arena also includes Gonzaga, Vermont, Florida State, West Virginia, Clemson, Missouri and Morgan State.
For Buffalo hotels, shops, bars and restaurants, it means a welcome cash windfall.
"There's a huge, huge impact on the local community we estimate at somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 million," says Ed Healy, Vice President of Marketing at Buffalo's Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Healy says sports, especially amateur sports, always bring people to Buffalo.
