Unemployment Benefits Expiring For Michigan Jobless
More than 100,000 Michiganders will lose their jobless benefits next month as federal unemployment extensions expire.
The number of Michiganders losing benefits will grow to over 500,000 by June if Congress does not vote to extend unemployment benefits, says Norm Isotalo of the state labor department.
Isotalo says many will have to turn to the Department of Human Services for help.
"Its hard to imagine that there would be enough jobs created quickly enough to accommodate all 500,000 of these individuals," says Isotalo.
