The Hunt/Hopkins County African American Leadership Conference, Commerce Ministerial Alliance, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (of Texas A&M University-Commerce) proudly present the first event of its kind: The Dan and Jalinna Jones Educational Awards. Awardees were selected either because of outstanding academic performance, school involvement, excellence in education, school attendance, or leadership in education. Students from each school were nominated by their respective schools, and principals, teachers, and superintendents were selected by the sponsoring groups. The event features keynote speaker Ron Price, former president of the Dallas Independent School District. |
