Chet Edwards A Possible VP?
(2008-08-22)
(KERA) - Reporters have been staking out the Waco home of Representative Chet Edwards all afternoon, since his name surfaced as a possible Barack Obama running mate. KERA's Bill Zeeble is outside Edwards' home.

Bill Zeeble, KERA reporter; About a dozen and a half reporters have been across the street from the Edwards home on this quiet suburban Waco street. He left after 2 o'clock this afternoon with his son, saying he needed to run some errands. That's when he also said he was gratified to be considered for the Vice Presidential post, and that he had been talking to the Obama campaign for several months. He offered little else about the vetting process. Chet Edwards' name was first mentioned a few weeks ago by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who gave him high praise. He brings expertise on military issues, & earned top grades for saving the VA Hospital in Waco. Until recent redistricting, Edwards represented the nearby Ft. Hood army base. He chairs an important Veterans subcommittee, but is considered a long shot - a Representative little-known outside of Texas. Bill Zeeble KERA news.
