DISD Could Move Closer to a Tougher Ethics Policy
DALLAS, TX
(KERA) -
Board member Carla Ranger has long said it's time the district disallow contracts going to companies whose influential employees include trustees. For example, Jack Lowe's company TD Industries has 9 million dollars worth of DISD contracts.
Ranger calls that a conflict of interest. Trustees agree in general on a stronger ethics policy, but not on specifics. The district conducted an online survey that ended at the end of July.
It sought citizen input on the district's ethics policy. Results are expected at this afternoon's meeting. Any proposed changes will move onto the full board at a later date.
