Local Pharmacists Still Waiting for H1N1 Vaccine
DALLAS, TX
(KERA) -
Many people go to their local pharmacies each year for flu shots. But this year, they're out of luck for the H1N1 strain that's making the rounds and the headlines.
Dr. Donna Barsky at Texas Star Pharmacy in Plano, says pharmacies are in the back of the line for the vaccine, behind local health departments.
Barsky: Now the issue with that is they still haven't sent them enough to even it's like a drop in the bucket. So, I don't know that I would go near, right now, some of those major shot clinics they're going to be having. I understand they have security in place, which is probably a good idea, because they don't have enough doses for everybody.
Dr. Barsky says she's fielding dozens of calls each day asking if she has the vaccine. She says there are a lot of frustrated, concerned people who want an H1N1 flu shot.
