Tarrant County Offers Flu Shots To Everyone
DALLAS, TX
(KERA) -
Tarrant County is offering H1N1 flu shots to everyone not just those in the high risk groups. KERA's BJ Austin says Dallas County plans to do the same soon.
Tarrant County Public Health received 11 thousand additional doses of the H1N1 vaccine Monday, and expects to get more next week. Marc Flake, with the County, says health officials are expanding the number of shot clinics.
Flake: On Thursday, we're going to have storefronts in some shopping centers. And they are going to be specifically for the H1N1 vaccine in areas throughout Tarrant County to make it easily accessible.
Flake says the shots are free, and health officials are urging people to get one before traveling this Holiday season.
The Dallas County Health Department plans to lift its priority group restrictions on Monday - offering free H1N1 shots to everyone at three County clinics.
The Centers for Disease Control has not lifted the priority group policy, but Dallas County Health Department director Zach Thompson says sometimes you just can't wait on the federal government.
