Tour of Missouri bike race starts Tuesday
(2007-09-07)
(St. Louis Public Radio) - More than 100 of the world's best bicyclists - including this year's Tour de France champion - will race next week in the debut run of the Tour of Missouri.

It's being billed as the state's biggest-ever sporting event. Racers will start next Tuesday in Kansas City and finish a week from Sunday in downtown St. Louis, the same day as both a Rams and Cardinals home game.

But Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder isn't worried about traffic. He's helping organize the race and told KWMU's Tom Weber the Tour will spread fans out over a 7.5-mile loop.
