A Concert for Epiphany The Motet Singers of Lawrence joined by Saxophonia will present a concert finale celebrating the Yuletide season. The program will include compositions ancient and modern highlighting the variety of musical offerings expressing the coming of light into the world. The Motet Singers were first organized in 1974 under David Grisafe, and in 2010 the ensemble was reorganized under the direction of David Rasmussen. Our primary purpose is for the enjoyment of singing together, yet by singing for others on occasion we hope to share our love of the choral art. All of the members of the Singers are experienced choristers. Some are professional musicians and teachers of music, others are professionals in various other fields. All share the one essential ingredient that makes for fine ensemble singing, the willingness to “fit” ones voice into the whole of the ensemble. Saxophonia is a group of dedicated saxophonists with a love for music written for four saxophones. We've played together (John and Bob since 1977) in big bands and other jazz and blues ensembles, but came together as a quartet in Summer 2010. Join us at Community Christian Church in Kansas City on Sunday January 5 at 3 PM. There is no charge but an offering will be accepted to help with expenses.
