Kansas City Symphony Presents Symphonic Work Based on "The Lord of the Rings"
More than 200 performers share the stage this week for "The Lord of the Rings Symphony" composed by Howard Shore. It's based on the musical score from the films adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's tales of hobbits, elves, dwarves, orcs and men of Middle-earth.by Laura SpencerKansas City, MOSome of the lyrics are in Old and Modern English, but the vocalists also learned a few

The Kansas City Symphony presents "The Lord of the Rings Symphony," Thursday, May 7, 2009 and Friday, May 8, 2009, 8 pm, Music Hall.
From the Kansas City Symphony website: "20 young women from Shawnee Mission North Women's Chorale and 20 children from Musical Arts Institute (MAI), as well as the Missouri Western State University, Griffon Junior Singers, Premiere Choir will combine to make up the children's choir for Lord of the Rings. The Kansas City Symphony Chorus (at least 80 members) will serve as the adult choir."
