Linda Weintraub on Art and Ecology
Throughout her career, contemporary art educator and curator Linda Weintraub has been drawn to art that challenges cultural norms. Weintraub is currently writing the first eco-art college textbooks, focusing on contemporary artists using ecology in their work. She visits the Kansas City area this week and talked to KCUR’s Laura Spencer. Linda Weintraub's schedule in the Midwest:

KANSAS CITY: Tuesday, March 25, 7pm, Epperson Auditorium at the
Kansas City Art Institute.

LAWRENCE: Wednesday, March 26, 12 pm, Spooner Hall, 1025 Jayhawk Boulevard, and a workshop, 2 - 4 pm, 320 Dyche Hall, University of Kansas.
Sponsored by The Commons, a partnership between the Biodiversity Institute, the Hall Center for the Humanities, and the Spencer Museum of Art, in cooperation with the KU Center for Sustainability.

TOPEKA: Thursday, March 27, 5:30 pm, Mulvane Art Museum.

Julia Cole, chair of interdisciplinary arts at KCAI, says "(Linda) Weintraub is part of a growing movement that asks whether our particular skills and visions might be important in helping out culture envision alternative futures, and her careful research, articulate analysis and inspiring vision are making a vital contribution to this discussion."
