Contract for New Casino Troubles Tribal Leader
The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes plan to open a casino in November on a five-acre tract roughly 300 yards south of I-40. The location would make it the closest casino the interstate west of Shawnee.
But tribal President Leslie Standing says she's troubled by contracts signed by his predecessor, Gary McAdams. Standing says under one contract, the tribe will pay the developer $2,000 per day plus expenses, with no maximum number or time limit.
The contract also prevents the tribe from severing ties with the developer unless the company embezzles money or breaches the agreement. © Copyright 2009, kccu-fm
