Wright's Execution Next Week Moved to October
Forty-two-year-old Gregory Wright faced lethal injection Tuesday for the 1997 stabbing death of a 52-year-old widow near Dallas.
Wright's new execution date is Oct. 30. His attorneys sought the delay to allow additional DNA testing.
The victim, Donna Duncan Vick, regularly ministered to the homeless and had given Wright food, shelter and money.
Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to review Wright's conviction and sentence.
