Third Annual Cabin Fever Winter Festival

(kbut) - Celebrate winter or blow off some pent up steam at the Third Annual Cabin Fever Winter Festival on February 9 2008. The events begin at Jorgenson Park in Gunnison at 10:30 am and the feature event is the prestigious Woman of the Wilderness fun competition. Women battle for the coveted title by competing in several events such as snowshoeing, water hauling, elk bugling, hay bale tossing, and others. The hardiest woman wins a trip for two to Costa Rica. All particiapants must register and forms are available at the Sage Mountain School office at the Smith Opera House or at selected local businesses in Crested Butte and Gunnison. In addition, the valley's most prestigious chili cook-off will occur at the Cabin Fever Winter festival. Chili masters may register to your best concoction and communjity members are the judges. The Chili Gurus will win fabulous prizes. A kid of the Wilderness competition will also be availble to all kids and food and fun will happen all day long. The events move to the Ol' Miner Steakhouse at 7 pm for the Carhartt Ball featuring live music and dancing. The Woman of the Wilderness will be crowned and winners of the chili cook-off wil be announced. A door prize wil be raffled and a live auction will occur.

The Cabin Fever Winter Festival is hosted by the Sage Mountain School. The event is sponsored by numerous local and national sponsors including the Carhartt Corporation, the Luna Lodge of Costa Rica, the Water Wheel Inn, Peri Gore, and others.
