(KBIA) -
The Cambio de Colores conference is back for its 5th year. The conference will take place at the Stone Creek Inn Wednesday through Friday. The conference main purpose is to educate discuss and create awareness on issues related to Latino immigration and integration. Executive coordinator of the conference Domingo Martinez Castilla says immigration is only one of the topics of the conference. The main goal of the conference is Latino integration into the community. Martinez Castilla says the conference address the issue of immigration from a local point of view. We are very mindful of the things that are being decided in Washington because that might change some things locally. But independently of Washington and the federal government decides we still have an important quantity of people in our communities that are being changed
Beyond Borders is the topic of this year's conference. The chair of the conference Anne Dannerbeck says she had a hand in picking the topic because of similarities that she observed between the Mexican and American social trends when she visited Mexico last summer. © Copyright 2010, KBIA
