Kirksville Opens Shelter, Assesses Damage from Tornadoes

The Red Cross has opened a shelter and road crews continue to assess damage in Kirksville, following four tornados that reportedly touched ground in Adair County this evening, with one striking the city of Kirksville. According to City of Kirksville officials, two of the cells were located near Novinger. A fourth tornado was reported in the Troy Mills area. Extensive damage has been reported in some areas. The City of Kirksville has not received reports of any fatalities but is reporting some minor injuries. Highway 63/Baltimore now has been reopened to regular traffic. Road crews are still assessing damage. The Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter at the Rehoboth Baptist Church, 100 Pfeiffer Street. City personnel advise those still in need of emergency assistance, to call 911. Call 660-627-1237 or 660-627-6934 to report damage.
