MU Agriculturists Release Baseline Update for Us Markets
(2008-09-23)
(KBIA) - Agriculturists at the University of Missouri have recently released a Baseline Update for US Agricultural Markets. The report says corn production will need to be increased across the United States in 2009. The report has been updated from the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute's annual spring baseline report due to damaging floods across the Midwest Corn Belt . The Institute's Co-Director, Pat Westhoss, says the 50 researchers who worked on the report forecast a greater demand for corn and soybean production across the US.

We're anticipating that we'll see a further increase in corn production in 2009 in response to very strong corn prices, and a continued strong demand for soybean as well.

Westhoss says a continued increase in ethanol production is one of the leading causes for the need of increased corn production. © Copyright 2009, KBIA
