Series of Violent Crimes in Columbia Cause Concern COLUMBIA, MO (KBIA) - Several violent crimes within the last week are causing concern for the Columbia Police Department. An armed robbery occurred at 8 a.m. Monday morning at Bandana's Barbeque as two employees were preparing the restaurant for opening. The suspect entered through the back door and struck one of employees in the head with a handgun. Sergeant Ken Hammond of the Columbia Police Department is concerned about the seriousness of the robbery.

We're kinda alarmed at this point is the severity and the violence associated with this robbery the individual actually struck a victim in the head with a firearm. That's a bit uncommon and nerving at this time. An individual who's committing a robbery with a handgun is very dangerous to begin with but when he actually uses it as a weapon makes him even more so.

Other recent violent crimes include a stabbing Sunday night and a robbery Friday night when a pizza delivery man was held at gun point.
