Veterans Celebrate POW/MIA Recognition Day COLUMBIA, MO (KBIA) - Some of Mid-Missouri's bravest will be honored at the Veterans Hospital today in Columbia. The 30th anniversary of National Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Recognition Day will be celebrated in Pershing Memorial Park at 2 o'clock. Veterans Affairs Spokesman Stephen Gaither says the ceremony will include about 15 veterans, all of whom reside in Mid-Missouri. He expects a wide range of former service members to attend.

We do have a handful of former prisoners of war from Vietnam in that group, but most of them are World War 2 and a few from the Korean Conflict and just a few from Vietnam.

The MU ROTC will present and retire the colors. Staff members from the V-A Hospital will also participate in the ceremony. The event is open to the public.
