Quarry Blast May Affect Sewage Plant
Magruder Limestone Company began blasting a Camden County quarry. City officials say the blast affected the plant. Judge Kenneth Oswald ordered Magruder to stop the blasting until the future court date. Officials met last Thursday, but the attorney for Magruder Limestone pushed for an extension of 30 days. City administrator Nancy Viselli explains that if a sewer line would rupture from the blasts the outcome would be catastrophic.
We don't have enough money, if there was a leak or something we wouldn't have enough money to fix it or to clean it up or to stop it because during the testimony they made a comment during testimony should the lines break you couldn't run fast enough to beat it to the river.
Viselli also says the city doesn't understand how the Department of Natural Resources could issue this permit since it could jeopardize so much to the area.
