Truman State University will host a Global Issues Colloquium on Wednesday as part of an ongoing series discussing the intersection of local and global issues. University of Iowa Professor Paul Greenough will provide a global perspective on how U.S. Communities respond to natural disasters. He says that the way we respond to natural disasters helps define the character of our society. Greenough says Mississippi Valley residents responded positively to the recent floods.It's really a kind of celebration of community I'd say.
Greenough will offer case studies of response to disasters in Southeast Asia and Sri Lanka. The audience is expected to include Kirksville's first responders to natural disasters.
