Bus System to Begin Service Oct. 1 in Boonville
(2008-09-17)
COLUMBIA, MO
(KBIA) -
Boonville's City council members have decided to call the city transit system Boonville's Katy Flyer. The name was chosen over five other names that Boonville residents submitted. The new bus system will start running October First and run Tuesdays through Thursdays. It'll cost two dollars to ride. City Council member Julie Thatcher says she expects the bus system to help the community. "It's a good thing for the people that need it, and it's also a good thing for the businesses."
Boonville's Director of Economic Development Sarah Gallagher says the main purpose of the bus is to help people with disabilities get to and from work. All busses are handicap accessible and will seat about 15 to 18 passengers. Gallagher says if ridership is high enough, officials will consider having the buses run five days a week.
