Central MO Recovering from Ike Related Storms
The biggest thing that we can always remind people about is when we have storms like that especially at night they need to be extra cautious when driving.
Benz says the county was fortunate not to have suffered a lot of damage. No one reported any accidents. Public works took care of minor repairs on Sunday. Benz says the only county wide problems were low water crossings and land erosion. Individual damages were mostly crop related. Benz says crop insurance can be accessed to help with this destruction.

Some central Missouri counties are recovering from this weekend's Hurricane Ike related storms. While some counties, such as Boone and Randolph suffered flood related deaths, Cole County is one of the areas that weathered the storms virtually unscathed. Cole County Public Works Director Larry Benz was originally concerned about the level of Moreau River, but ultimately he says it was not an issue. Although this was not a serious storm, Benz has some basic advice for Cole County citizens for future storms.
