Jefferson City Schools Superintendent to Retire in June
(2008-09-16)
(KBIA) - Jefferson City Schools superintendent Brent Kimble will retire after his 12th year of service in June. Kimble says he planned to leave last year, but stayed one more year to tie up loose ends like completing a new strategic plan for the district and hiring a new high school principal. Kimble says helping pass the $33 million school bond issue, completing the Miller Performing Arts Center, and establishing successful alternative education programs are a few of the accomplishments he's most proud of.

There's a lot of things that we, because there's no I in team, this team we have been able to accomplish over the last twelve years. So I'm pretty pleased about all that I'll step aside and let somebody else take the helm and hopefully the team will do many many more good things for kids.

School board president Tami Turner says she's enjoyed working with Kimble over the years, and there's a lot she will miss with his absence.

Dr. Kimble takes his job very seriously and he's a very smart individual. He's very passionate about education in general and he is very passionate about Jefferson City Public Schools and I think it shows in the good job that he does."

Turner says Kimble helped prepare the district for the future and she is looking forward to starting the interview process. Turner says the school board plans to have a replacement for Kimble by January, but is in the process of creating qualifications and a superintendent search committee © Copyright 2009, KBIA
