No Decision on Increasing Kirksville's Water Fees
(2008-09-15)
(KBIA) - There's no decision as to whether Kirksville will increase some of its water service fees. The City Council tabled its discussion Monday night about the ordinance
Some changes would include an increased fee for connecting a new home to the city's water as well as a new fee for filling up a swimming pool. Some of the charges haven't been changed since 1990 even though costs for the city have increased since then. Finance director Laura Guy stresses that the ordinance will apply to services that are being undercharged and will verify everyone is charged for their actual water use.

But what we're basically trying to accomplish is to just make sure our fees are sufficient to recover our costs to the users of those fees

The council will continue to consider the ordinance, even though it hasn't gone to a vote yet. If the changes are approved, the ordinance would go into effect in January.
