Tour of Missouri Going Through Jefferson City Friday
(2008-09-12)
(KBIA) - The Tour of Missouri bike race is going through the capital city today. Jefferson City will serve as a finishing line for stage five of the race. City officials are preparing several events around the tour to attract spectators. Convention and Visitors Bureau spokesperson Sarah Stroesser says she expects the tour to be a great thing for the city's economy.

"We know that all of the hotel rooms are sold out in Jefferson City, except for maybe a few here and there So that's a great sign of there are going to be a lot of people in our community. And we believe that they are going to be attending the Tour of Missouri."

Stroesser estimates the race will have an economic impact of about one and half million dollars. That's up about a million dollars from last year when Jefferson City served as the race starting point. © Copyright 2009, KBIA
