Blunt Signs Legislation Requiring Electronic Records on Cold-Medicine Sales
Governor Matt Blunt was in Chesterfield today (Tuesday) to sign the bill.
The law follows a 2005 directive requiring pharmacists to keep paper records.
State Representative Kenny Jones from California, Missouri, says the new legislation will greatly cut the amount of shoe-leather work required by rural police.
We started a task force in mid-Missouri and one person was hired full time just to go around to the different places where you could buy Sudafed and Actifed and look over their paper laws.
The bill also lets specially trained nurses write prescriptions for some controlled substances, including cough medicines and pain relievers like Vicodin.
