Missouri River Regional Library Receives Technology Grant
COLUMBIA, MO
(KBIA) -
The Missouri River Regional Library in Jefferson City recently received a grant for more than $13,000 dollars to help out with technology.
The library plans to use the grant to buy 15 laptops for computer classes. The library directors want laptops for portable reasons...
They are currently renovating three buildings for the library and want to have flexibility for the space and size of the classes.
Digital Services Librarian Bobbi Newman says the classes teach everything from emailing to blogging.
"I know that technology is just growing by leaps and bounds. It's really hard for people to keep up with that. For the library to offer some really basic classes that are hands on and free, it's just a wonderful opportunity that you're not going to find anywhere else."
The classes have had an overflow of attendees lately, but with the new laptops there will be more room.
The grant comes from the Library Services and Technology Art through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
