Record Breaking Attendance at Boone County Fair
"And I just think people came and went home and told their friends what a good time they had and they came back and brought more people. I just think the atmosphere made it work."
And many more people rode the Tilt-a-Whirl and tried their hand at balloon darts this year...the carnival was up 37%. Harris says in addition to extending next years fair, he wants to add more things as well. He says he has some ideas he wants to run by the board at next week's meeting. Harris did say he would like to add more musical entertainment.

More than 158,000 people passed through the Boone County Fairground gates last week, setting a record in attendance. That's up 47% compared to last year's turnout. The success left such an impression, that next year's fair will extend to ten days. Fairgrounds manager George Harris credits this year's record setting attendance good weather and, word of mouth."And I just think people came and went home and told their friends what a good time they had and they came back and brought more people.
