Roots 'n Blues to Charge Admission
Unlike last year, Columbia is not subsidizing the event. However, the city is providing some services at a reduced rate. King's group, Thumper Entertainment will reimburse the city for everything expect the overtime hours police work at the event. Thumper will pay a reduced rate for that time. The festival is scheduled for September 25-26th.

The Columbia City Council early this morning voted to approve many of the details concerning operations of the Roots 'n Blues 'n BBQ Festival. The council approved an open container area, a number of street closures, and admission fees for some parts of the festival. This is the first year, the festival won't be completely free. Advance tickets will be $10 a day and weekend passes will be $15...but of the 15 city blocks that will be closed for the festival, organizer Richard King says there'll only be five where a ticket will be required.
