MU Business School Dean Steps Down
(2009-10-13)
(KBIA) - The University of Missouri's Trulaske Senior College of Business will be seeing some changes at the end of summer 2010. KBIA's Allyson Bird explains.

The dean of the business school, Dr. Bruce Walker, announced Monday that he is resigning.

Walker will, however, keep working for the school of business. He will now be a full-time faculty member in the marketing department. Walker will be teaching classes, as well as helping the new dean transition. He says he's ready to step down.

"The transition was going to occur at some point and I thought the timing right now was quite good because the college is strong and still making progress and I would like to have more time for personal activities and responsibilities."

Walker says he's very proud of how far the business school has come in his 20 years as dean. While Walker is looking forward to this change in his life, others are sad to see him go. Provost Brian Foster says Walker will be successful in the marketing department.

"He's a smart guy, and I say this from the perspective of having been in administration for a long, long time. It'll be an adjustment for him to get back, and he'll have to kind of get back on top of the field, I mean, things change in 20 years, but I think he'll be very good."

Foster says Walker has done wonderful things for the school. He says enrollment has sky-rocketed in the last few years and the school's status has risen. Foster says Walker's leadership has enabled the Trulaske Business School to be one of the best in the nation.
