Columbia School Community Committees
(2009-09-22)
COLUMBIA, MO
(KBIA) -
The District has created five subcommittees to help make a strategic plan for the district. The committees are made up of members of the community as well as school officials. Each subcommittee will suggest what the district should accomplish over the next five years.
Sally Beth Lyon is the Chief Academic Officer for the Columbia Public Schools. She says having input from the community is important for charting the course for Columbia.
Lyon explains,
It's very much the board's desire and our administration's desire to have the community tell us, 'Look, this is what we expect in our public schools, this is what we want you to accomplish over the next five years.'
Each subcommittee will report to a steering committee. The steering committee will then make a recommendation for a full plan to the school board in December.
