Missouri Towns Recieve Funding for Water Systems
(2010-02-24)
(KBIA) - Stimulus dollars are flowing into three Mid-Missouri towns. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has allocated $141 million for water system improvements. Wardsville, California and Lake Ozark are among the 63 communities chosen to receive funding. The money is a combination of grants and loans. The DNR's Deputy Communications Director Renee Bungart says the selection process was difficult.

"All of those projects needed to be shovel ready, it was a very quick timeframe, so it meant that a lot of cities had to already have had their application kind of going starting through the process and they had to have their environmental clearances and engineering plans and pass bond issues, so that kind of put us on a tight, quick timeframe."

Communities also needed voter authorization to issue necessary loans.
