Search Continues for St. Martins Girl
(2009-10-23)
(KBIA) - The search for a local St. Martins girl who has been missing more than 24 hours continues today. The search resumed this morning for nine-year old Elizabeth Olten who went missing Wednesday evening from St. Martins just west of Jefferson City. The Cole County sheriff says Olten left a friend's house shortly after 6 o'clock Wednesday night and was used to walking the quarter-mile to her home through neighbors' yards. She was reported missing around 7 p.m. Elizabeth Olten's aunt, Vicki Olten, described her niece as outgoing.

"She is a beautiful girl, does good in school, friendly, outgoing, but she would not talk to strangers, she has been taught right."

The State Highway Patrol, Federal Authorities, and the Violent Crimes Unit have joined the Cole County sheriff's efforts in the search for Otlen. The highway patrol put a roadblock in place last night around the time Olten went missing in case anyone who travels on the road at that time saw anything Wednesday night.
