Weatherization is a process that can make your home more energy efficient and it also strives to help lower income families become more economically secure. Central Missouri Community Action serves low income families and provides comfortable and safe housing to those who are eligible for the program. Randy Cole is the Energy Conservation Coordinator. He says the program translates into cost savings for those who need it most.
Most people that go through our program can typically see a savings of up to 300 dollars per year in their utility bill which can really help a person out who's on a fixed income.
Cole says in two years the program will be close to weatherizing 800 homes. To be eligible a family of four can have an income of 44 thousand or less and a single home owner can have an income of 21 thousand or less. Homes are weatherized for free of charge if applicants meet all income guidelines. The long term effects of weatherization are reduced average annual fuel consumption. Dani Wexelman, KBIA news.
