Nixon highlighted three main components of the Jobs package.
"First we want to expand the tools to help existing Missouri businesses grow. We want to invest in science and technology to attract new businesses to our state. And we want to enhance job training efforts, especially at Missouri's community colleges."
The Missouri First proposal would financially support Missouri businesses that have been located in the state at least five years.
The Missouri Science and Innovation Reinvestment Act, or MOSIRA, would encourage life science, plant science, and other biotechnology companies to come to Missouri.
These two proposals will require legislative approval.
The third component Nixon detailed involves the Training for Tomorrow program - a 12 million dollar investment in job-training programs at Missouri community colleges.
Nixon says the economic challenges Missouri faces in 2010 are tough, but he also says the people of Missouri are tougher, and that he is confident jobs will be created and the state's economy will move forward.
