Through its Realty to Roads program, MoDOT plans to sell roughly 23 'highly marketable' properties either at auction or by sealed bid from Nov. 16th to Nov. 20th. MoDOT has also contracted private relaters in an effort to sell more properties.

President of White and Associates, Bill White, is in charge of selling several state properties in the Kansas City area. White says his company has sold more than $2 million worth of state property this year. He says the state is taking advantage of a good opportunity to make money.
"States are wanting to be efficient in their managing and their marketing of their property," White says. "I'm believing that some of this is driven by wanting to be good stewards of the taxpayers dollars. So they see an opportunity to sell property in different ways other than traditional marketing and there are going to take that into consideration. That's what I believe is going on in this instance."
He says the state property he is selling ranges from $15,000 to more than a million dollars. © Copyright 2012, KBIA
