(KBIA) -
Last night an economics professor from the University of Missouri traveled north to Moberly to share his views on President Obama's stimulus package. The Randolph Area Pachyderm Club invited all Moberly residents to listen to a highly regarded economics professor share his views on the economy. Joe Haslag teaches at the University of Missouri. He is also the vice president of the Show-Me Institute, a leading economic thinktank representing Missouri. Haslag says he wanted to shed a true light on President Obama's stimulus package.null
"I'm going to try and walk them through sort of what economics has to say about whether the stimulus package has a chance of working or not and under what conditions will it work or will it fail to work. And then sort of my understanding of that economics and the likelihood that the stimulus may have made things worse."
Haslag says he wanted to assure listeners that the American economy certainly hasn't collapsed. He says this year's economic cycle was a "once in a lifetime event" that has a lot of so-called experts trying to make sense of it all. Haslag says that what is needed to figure out this business cycle are true economic scholars' perspectives. © Copyright 2012, KBIA
