Nixon's Bridge Request Denied
(2005-08-04)
JEFFERSON CITY, MO
(KBIA) -
The state Supreme Court has denied Attorney General Jay Nixon's request to move a lawsuit disputing the future of a historic bridge back to Cooper County, where the bridge is located. The lawsuit has been transferred to Cole County, and Nixon tried earlier this week to stop that transfer. The high court now has denied his motion to get it returned to Cooper County.
Nixon is arguing the historic Katy Trail Bridge near Boonville should stay in the state's control.
The Department of Natural Resources wants to relinquish control of the bridge to Union Pacific Railroad.
