Renovations are expected to begin this month on a historic Columbia building where a lot of residents attended their high school proms. Lela Raney Wood Hall on the Stephens College campus, which opened in 1938, has been closed since 1995. In January, the college received a two and a half million dollar donation from Gretchen Kimball, a 1957 graduate, to renovate the hall. The six million dollar project is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2004, when the ballroom will once again be available for community functions, like high school proms.
