Talk of a new specialized apartment complex for the developmentally disabled has started in Camdenton. The proposed complex would consist of 14-units and sit on a one and a half acre lot between Blair Avenue and Lakeview Drive. Director of the Camden County Developmental Disability Resources Pete Breting says he believes the new housing would be a great benefit to the community.
"The good thing about this program is not only does it provide for the construction of supportive housing apartments, but it also provides for an ongoing rent subsidy for the people that live there because typically they don't have a whole lot of income."
Supporters are hoping for a one point six million dollar grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to help cover construction costs.
